Tata Indigo eCS has been updated with a new diesel mill, a common rail CR4, BSIV compliant,16 valve DOHC engine, with a 1396 cc displacement, producing 70 PS of power at even 4000 rpm. It boasts of maximum torque of 140 Nm at 1800-3000 rpm. The older diesel engine is a TDi, Turbo charged engine with intercooler and complies with BSIII norms. It produces 70 PS of power at 4500 rpm and a maximum torque of 135 nm at 2500 rpm. The petrol engine is an MPFI (Multi Point Fuel Injection Technology) with 32 bit micro processor to impart flawless timing. It has maximum power of 65 PS and 100 Nm of maximum torque at 2700rpm. The new engines are more economical as well environmental friendly. The petrol engine features in three variants; Tata Indigo eCS BSIV GLS, GLX and GVX. The two diesel mills power 6 versions, Tata Indigo eCS TDI BSIII LE, LX and LS, with the LE being the base variant. The other three diesel versions powered by the new BSIV engine are Tata Indigo eCS BSIV LS, LX and VX.
Resembling its own stable mate Tata Indica, Tata Indigo eCS is a smart and classy auto to look at. The BSIII, TDi LE, is the basic model which features body colored bumpers, smart chrome strip on hood and full wheel caps. The LS version has chic rear fog lights differentiating it from the LE. The LX model further has body colored rear view mirrors, rub rails with chrome inserts and electrically adjustable outer rear view mirror with turn indicators. The high end VX variant boasts of few extra features like rear demister and robust alloy wheels.
The interiors of Tata Indigo eCS are a reminder of Tata's promise of class and comfort. The basic model LE and GLS are done in pleasant shades of coco brown and beige with seats partially lined with fabric. They also have cabin lamp, front power outlet and vanity mirror co driver side. The GVX and GLX are made plusher with digital clock, instrumental cluster with chrome rings, music system with 4 speakers, tacho meter, USB and auxiliary input, central console with premium wood finish and fully fabric seats. It also has blue tooth connectivity to make your driving experience truly enjoyable.
When it comes to convenience Tata Indigo eCS is indeed quite well equipped that you will ensconce in sheer comfort during your drive. The base model has comfortable front seat with adjustable headrest, remote lever for fuel and trunk lid and air conditioning. The petrol cars have clutch to start and the CR4 engine variants have auto drive assist. The LS also features power steering, heater and front power windows. The LX models have power windows for front as well as back. Besides all these features the end of the line model also has adjustable driver's seat and rear seat centre arm rest.
When it comes to safety the Tata Indigo eCS has a good array of safety features. The base model has high mounted stop lamps, collapsible steering and child safety lock for rear doors. The LS model has an additional central locking with key. The LX variants have a warning for driver door open and the seat belt not fastened. The end of the line VX model also features ABS (Anti Lock Braking System), providing great safety to the driver as well as pedestrians.
